What is Microblading?
Microblading is an advanced manual brow technique that uses a superfine row of needles to deposit cosmetic pigments into the upper dermis of the skin to create thin, hair-like strokes.
he most common type of traditional eyebrow tattoos involves the use of a tattoo gun and a block style brow, which leaves the client with a dark outlined eyebrow and no depth. These often fade to really unflattering colors such as blue or red. Microblading by Cassie leaves the client with crisp, thin lines that blend seamlessly with your REAL HAIR. Microblading is meant to be a subtle, natural enhancement to create the illusion of fuller brows. It is the perfect solution for those who want to fully reconstruct, define, cover gaps, or fill-in over plucked brows. We only use the highest quality of cruelty-free/vegan pigments as well as disposable sterile needles.
Lovejoy Lash and Brow Lounge offers consultations to all prospective clients. We understand the procedure can be daunting and we want to make sure all our
clients feel comfortable with their decision. All questions or concerns you might have will be addressed during your consultation.
During your consultation, Cassie will work with you to discuss your goals, lifestyle, shape of your existing brows and the problem areas you wish to address. Bringing reference photos of your desired brow shape is highly recommended and greatly appreciated. Your specialist will advise and show examples of brow shapes which will work with each clients face shape and brow type. If you have any questions about which procedure to choose, your specialist can direct you towards the best option for you.
If you have any concerns, we will be happy to address them and help you decide on a treatment plan that will work for you.
Pre-Procedure Consultations are not mandatory for Microblading. If you feel ready, you can book your procedure and your specialist will go over all the mentioned above at your appointment!
Your entire Microblading process should take approximately 2 hours.
The Touch-up session is performed after 4-6 weeks from your initial appointment. At this appointment, Cassie will assess how your skin has healed and will perfect your brows accordingly.
Microblading is a semi-permanent procedure. Therefore, it will gradually and naturally fade over time, to varying degrees—this is the nature of Microblading. A touch up or "Refresher Session" is recommended at least once every year to keep brows looking their best.

Who should not get Microblading?
-
Individuals prone to keloids, super thin skin, Rosacea or post-inflammatory hyper-pigmentation. Unfortunately, since Microblading punctures the skin with tiny needles, we cannot work with clients with these conditions. Powder technique is sometimes suggested as an alternative method on a case by case basis.
-
Individuals with transmittable blood disease such as HIV or Hepatitis. Microblading cuts into the skin so it is best to not work with these conditions for the safety of our clients as these conditions greatly impact the immune system and healing process of individuals.
-
If you’ve had Botox/filler in the brow area. We recommend getting Microblading first! Or we generally recommend clients wait 4 weeks after Botox/filler before getting Microblading done.
-
Individuals undergoing active chemotherapy.
-
If you have any kind of skin condition near your eyebrows. Eczema, shingles, rashes, or anything else near eyebrows.
-
Individuals with oily skin. Those with very oily skin and large pores are not good candidates for microblading.
-
Individuals under 18 years of age
-
Individuals who are pregnant or nursing
-
Individuals with dark preexisting eyebrow permanent makeup. We require anyone with a previous eyebrow tattoo to book a consultation.
Please make sure you are healthy enough to be Microbladed before booking an appointment! If you have any concerns about whether or not you are a good candidate for Microblading please consider booking a consultation.
The Healing Process for Microblading
While every person is different and some heal more quickly or slowly than others, here’s generally what to expect following your eyebrow procedure:
-
Day 1 -The eyebrows are approximately 50% darker and 10-15% bolder in width than they will be when healed. Expect light to moderate swelling and redness. The skin’s redness causes the color of the pigment to appear darker. There is some swelling, although difficult to actually see due to the thickness of the skin in the eyebrow area. This will subside. Exfoliation, which begins in a few days, will cause the excess pigment surrounding the eyebrow to flake away and a more narrow appearance will result. New skin will heal over the pigmented area and result in a softer appearance of your eyebrows. Don’t be concerned that your eyebrows initially appear darker and heavier in size than you desire. This is all part of the process.
-
Day 2 - Conditions remain the same, do not worry! Trust the process.
-
Day 3 - Eyebrows start to itch and will appear a bit thicker in texture. Exfoliation begins.
-
Day 4 - The skin begins to flake, peeling from the outside edges first. Please do not pick at the scabs.
-
Day 5 - Color finishes flaking off and appears softer and grayer for a few days until color clarifies.
-
Day 7 - The color has lightened from its initial overly-dark appearance. For the next few days, the color may now be lighter than what the final color will be.
-
Day 8-10 - The final color begins to stabilize and show through.
-
Day 11 to 30 - Pigment can disappear and reappear after two weeks so please be patient with final results after 1 month.
-
Day 30 - Please book your follow-up appointment for your Touch-Up Session. After your touch-up session, the healing process is the same. The final results will show after your touch-up session!
FAQ
Do I need a consultation before getting microblading?
While not required, consultations are $50.00 and offered to anyone who would like to discuss their tattoo before booking an appointment. The $50.00 consultation fee would be deducted at your Microblading appointment. You can conveniently book a consultation by clicking here.
It is required that you come in for a consultation if you are in need of correction work or have had your brows tattooed elsewhere.
Will it look natural?
Absolutely! The technique used by Cassie creates realistic, simulated hair strokes that look just like REAL HAIR! It’s important you choose the right artist that can give you this realistic 3D/6D look. Your brows can be as big and bold or as soft and subtle as you like!
How to prepare for your Microblading appointment
If you have reference photos please feel free to bring these to your appointment
Do not thread/wax/tweeze your brows prior to your appointment. Your specialist will shape your brows for you during your appointment
Do not work out the day of your appointment
You cannot take any medications that can thin your blood (i.e. Asprin, Ibuprofen, fish oil, Vitamin E) 48 hours before or immediately after your procedure
Stop using Retinol Products 72 hours prior to your appointment
Do not drink alcohol for at least 48 hours before your procedure
Avoid caffeine the day of your appointment
Doing any of the above may cause bleeding, which will affect how well your body retains pigment.
What Factors will affect my cosmetic tattoo?
Bleeding during the procedure: Excessive bleeding during your procedure will greatly affect how your body retains pigment. While this is not entirely in our control, it is important that you follow prep instructions to help minimize bleeding. This includes avoiding blood thinning medications and alcohol before your procedure.
Oily Skin: Increased oil production can cause hair strokes to blur and heal lighter and more powdery than you would expect. Loss of color will be more prominent and touch-ups are needed more frequently.
Smoking: Smokers may notice that their tattoo will fade faster
Anemia and iron deficiency: Your body will absorb these iron based pigments more quickly.
Sun exposure: Increased exposure to the sun will cause premature fading.
Color of pigment: Lighter colors fade faster than darker colors.
What kind of pigment is used in permanent cosmetic makeup?
Our pigments are safe to use and are created to slowly fade over time. The pigments we use do not contain organic material (i.e. vegetables) as these have a higher risk of causing allergic reactions. We use only the highest quality of FDA approved ingredients as well as disposable sterile needles. What's even better is that our pigments are 100% vegan/cruelty-free and safe for MRI!
Are there some clients who cannot retain the pigment?
Yes, this does happen. Some people have highly effective immune systems that reject the pigment, and some just have highly effective skin healing. It's very rare, but it's important that all clients understand this is a possibility and in most cases there is no way for us to know if this will take place prior to the work being done. Occasionally, we will recommend a third appointment for further touch-up using a different technique called shading/ombre effect at additional cost. If the client were still retaining very little pigment after the third appointment, we would not recommend another touch-up, as it might be too much for the skin.
How long does the procedure take?
The initial session takes approximately 2-3 hrs from the moment you walk in to the completion of your beautiful new brows. We spend the first hour designing your new brows and clarifying any questions you may have. There’s no down time! Most go about their normal day when they leave their appointment. The follow-up perfecting session takes approximately 30 - 60 minutes. This is done normally within 4-6 weeks.
Is Microblading right for me?
Microblading heals best on normal to dry skin types. Microblading may not work well on clients with more oily skin types, large pores. On those with oily skin types and larger pores, results may appear softer and more powdery. However, we will suggest a different technique for those who do have more oily skin and results will be just as stunning.
Clients with super thin skin, Rosacea, or Keloids cannot receive Microblading. Powder technique is sometimes suggested as an alternative method on a case by case basis.
How long will my Microbladed Brows last?
Microblading is considered semi-permanent. The pigments are designed to fade over time naturally and will not leave your brows looking blue or red like old conventional tattoos. Factors such as skin type, iron deficiency, life style, pigment color (lighter colors fade faster) and sun exposure can affect the rate at which these pigments are broken down. For best results, it is recommended that you follow our aftercare instructions and touch-up every 1-2 years or as often as needed. Microblading requires a minimum of two sessions. Touch-ups are normal and expected.
*Please note that final results cannot be guaranteed as everyone retains and breaks down pigment differently and follow-up appointments are recommended at 4-6 weeks so we can assess and make any changes necessary to your new semi-permanent brows.
What is the recovery time for Microblading?
There is no downtime, however the brows will take about 7-14 days to fully heal.
The final result will appear between 5 to 10 weeks. As the skin goes through it's natural healing process, your brows will look patchy and the color more muted. This is completely normal and expected. The color of your new brows will soften by up to 40 to 50%. This is why it is crucial to come back for your touch-up session within suggested time!
Please follow the aftercare instructions on this page to ensure proper healing and color retention. Please note that color appears darker for a few days after your treatment. Do not worry, this is temporary. Color will soften and will appear more natural as the healing progresses, we promise! It is normal to experience peeling of pigment. Fading or loss of pigment may occur during healing, in fact, it is expected, especially for your first treatment! Do not pick. Allow it to fall off naturally.
